Hey, this is Lee from London in the UK. Just wanted to take a quick moment to share my experience with Daniel's Apex Seller course. So it really came at the perfect time for me personally. My Amazon business was growing but yet I was struggling to keep on top of a lot of things. I didn't have good systems in place, or had systems in place, but they weren't as good as they could have been. So everything felt like a bit of a juggling act, as I'm sure many people can sort of relate to when their business grows. So yeah, life was a bit hectic before. The course I have to say, it's very simple to follow. It's laid out in modules, each one with a clear structure and path forward. Hi there. My name's Matthew Hodge. I'm based in South Australia. I've been selling on Amazon since 2013 and as of early 2021, I've sold more than $17 million on Amazon. I engaged Daniel in 2018 to help streamline my supply chain in China. The whole process led to a deep transformation, not only in my business systems, but also my bottom line. At the time we had more than 150 SKU's where we're using a ground agent who acted as an intermediary between us and all of our factories in China. And Daniel's team were able to analyze bestselling products and conduct a thorough investigation where they were comparing sourcing options. Looking at similar factories, pricing, minimum order quantities, production, lead times, and so on. The investigation produced a report that showed we were paying slightly too much for inventory which I guess is known to happen when you've been with the same suppliers for a number of years, as we had and was also due to the fact that our ground agent was being paid on commission.

And so that meant that it wasn't really in her interest to be regularly renegotiating with the suppliers and bringing the cost down because it meant less money for her. But armed with the evidence that was in the report. I was able to get leverage in the relationship with her to compel her to see both the seriousness of the intent that we had to really take this on and drive these costs down but also the gravity of the situation. If in fact we were paying too much and it sort of had been happening under her watch. So that sort of spurred her to go on and visit a lot of the factories that were listed in the report as well as to go back and talk with existing factories as well. And even though in the end this endeavor did not lead to us switching existing suppliers or even ground agents.

What it did do was it led to an education and a deeper understanding in our existing supply chain. For instance, we learned that price is not everything and factories need to be compared on an apples for apples basis. And by that I mean you need to be looking at factory size professionalism scale, how long they've been established, their reputation and so on. Lower price really is not as important as a supplier who knows your product well and who's done right by you for a number of years. So that was really important to us. I also learned that you can negotiate with your suppliers but only if you're armed with great information. You can challenge them to value your business and not take it for granted. And you can use information like this to keep them on their toes and sort of keep them fighting for your business.

And so we did end up seeing some lower prices from our suppliers but more than that, we saw a greater commitment to a mutual relationship on their side which is worth a lot because that's what leads to Goodwill, which you need when things either go wrong or when you need favors like a rushed order through or you know, you need them to break down a whole container and relabel things on a public holiday, that sort of thing that does come up in this business and having that relationship really makes that difference. Finally, probably the most influential result we had was it led to reviewing our relationship with our ground agent. Now she was on 15% commission at the time which is not that high for a new seller, starting out, given how much they hold your hand and do everything for you in the early days.

But given that we'd been in business for a number of years by that stage it was too high and we'd never renegotiated. So at first we explored the option of actually bringing her services in-house to try to reduce the costs. But in the end, we realized that her knowledge of our business and our products and the supply chain as well as the demonstrated loyalty and commitment that she had shown to us over quite a few years was a true asset. That was worth something and shouldn't be discarded and that there were risks of discarding that as well. So we opted to renegotiate with her and were able to bring her down from 15% to 7%, which was massive. And if you don't ask, you don't get, so this whole sort of project lead us to have these conversations that we weren't prepared to have.

And weren't ready to have otherwise. All in all the decisions that we made from this exercise that started with Daniel's team led to our inventory costs coming down from 25% of our total revenue to just 18%. And when you're a multi-million dollar a year business, that is big, big dollars. It also meant that we deeply understood our own existing supply chain and it strengthened our relationships and our position with those suppliers. Finally, I just want to say that working with Daniel was a pleasure from the start which is not always the case in this business. He was a consummate professional. He was always responsive and committed to our cause, whether or not the decisions led to a bigger payday for him and his team. Hey guys. So, where is this guy? This is the black forest behind me. This is, the remnants of a Roman emperors villa which has nothing to do, except of course we're building business empires, but I just happened to walk by here. So anyway, just for a couple of minutes, I want to take the time to talk a bit about why we bought into the Apex course or the Apex Seller, more precisely. Five years ago, we started selling on Amazon, mostly Germany, Europe anyway with more or less success. And at some point I realized my answers were not as good as they needed to be. The results were okay. And depending on who you compare it to even more than, okay, but we always compare to ourselves or inner monkey who says, you want to be more successful?

Do you want to do more? Do you want to be better, more effective be out of the business in the best sense, meaning working on the business instead of in it and doing the 80/20 things and all these buzzwords that we all know, but that seems so hard to actually achieve that state where all this happens. So I bought into the Apex Seller program and quick disclaimer, I'm only about four months in now, three, four months, but I'm already taking the time to record this video because it already made a tremendous difference. If I had to pick one sentence or put it into one sentence, I'd say it's peace of mind, which is invaluable. If we look at all the distractions that we're faced with each day, so this peace of mind comes from yeah, put them away. Anyway, this peace of mind comes from knowing what to do in what order from the systems and processes.

And for the first time we know not only the processes inside a working FBA business, but inside any business, really. So this is not so much about just learning how to succeed with Amazon. It's more about how to run a business properly on your terms. And that's huge. This is tremendous. And I'm seeing the change. We're doing test launches, we're doing smooth operations. We're documenting everything we do. We're eliminating things we don't need to do. We're a smaller team now with more efficient operations overall, I've seen my role in the business more clearly than before, simply by mapping it out by following what Daniel says. Biggest takeaway for me anyway was that, I don't have to build a brand which may sound strange to you at first, maybe, but it was something that got me stuck. I thought I had to build a huge brand with a huge audience following with all those things you can do.

But at the end of the day, we're selling on Amazon and this still is the best converting mechanism out there with all those credit cards people have in there. We all know it. And yet we're thinking, Oh, we have to become independent of this. Um, yeah, this is a topic for another day. I mean, I wish I could show you the board, uh, behind, uh, that we use and that's integrated with the Apex system and we've almost timed our inventory perfect. Ever since starting the course.

So I mean, in 2018 we worked out, we lost, I think it was near to $180,000 in revenue due to poor management of inventory and stockouts. So this time we're actually, well since starting the course, we've had no stock outs. We're on top of inventory. We managed to beat Chinese new year. I'm hoping to beat the Coronavirus. Um, no one knows how long that's going to last, but I'm hoping we are well stocked enough to, to, to, but at least give us another four monts. Um, the way it's been managed and it's just so easy to, to outsource. So I've given this process to one of the girls in the office and she literally goes in every day, fills out the, sheet runs the forecast and lets me know when we need to reorder, when it would be estimated arrive at Amazon and everything in between.

So that would be the inventory planning system that we got. We also have, um, the, the probably the best, well the best order tracking system we've had in place since we started the business. Since October I think we've placed 11 orders. Um, so that would probably be five, 24 containers and five 44 containers, all of different products. And we've managed to really monitor where they are, where they're up to, you know, when they're due to arrive, everything to the, to the, to the, the day, really. Uh, so we were really on top of, of management of inventory at the moment. Um, the next thing I would say would be the PPC system that we got now. It would probably be better for me to bring in the girl that runs the PPC for us as I'll be honest, I don't, um, I don't have to pay too much attention what's going on.

Um, uh, at the actual product level, but she runs the system. So I basically gave her the week of the training to follow, just gave her the, uh, the videos. She sat and watched it for a week, started to learn the system, implementing it. And we've actually seen our spend come down from about ten and a half thousand USD per month down to anywhere between seven and eight thousand per month. Uh, but the interesting thing is our spend, our sales have actually increased. So our ad sales are well up. I think we're spending currently about about seven and a half thousand a month without looking and our sales have increased about $33,000 from ad spend. Um, so yeah, that's, that is just down to the Apex system and obviously the girl running the system. Um, but she's really on top of it. So that's another thing that's, you know, completely outsourced and allowed me to step away a little bit.

We, um, the, I mean the way I am working at the moment is I work every Friday, Saturday, Sunday. And what happens is through the Apex course we get the KPI tracker. So our main target is really net profit and then everything that leads up to net profit. So basically anything related to net profit we're tracking. And every Friday after the girls would run the system in the office, they run, I think about six systems every day. Oh, well throughout the week. Um, and on the Friday, the last task is to fill out the KPI tracker. So then what I do, I come down over the weekend, uh, take a look at the KPI sheet and from the key performance sheet, I can actually see, um, if there is any huge difference on the previous week cause they're running this every Friday, every seven days. So I can see basically the net profit, um, the star rating, stock out days, everything in between the ACoS, uh, as an overall.

And then what he can actually do is we can pinpoint at the product level. So for example, if I sign in to Drive, I see the KPI tracker and I see the net profit is down by say $500 for the week. I can actually scroll across, try and identify at the company level why there is a problem, where the problem is. So let's say for example, it's ACoS in this week. So the net profit $500 down, but I notice that the ACoS is up by say 4% for example. I can then go into the product level, at the product metric level and I can look at each product individually and pinpoint which products it is, that has seen an increase in ACoS. So then what I would do is I would create the Google Calendar, uh, work system over the weekend and pinpoint the exact places I want the girls to work on.

So then I will put, you know, PPC monitoring, bring the ACoS down for this week on these items or these products and actually list the products for them. And then the teams go away. They can just work on them products and say there's five products I know it's been an increase in ACoS, they will just concentrate on them five products. On the Friday the time comes again to fill out the KPI sheet, they fill it out. I come down on the Friday or Saturday over the weekend, check the KPI sheet and check them products so I can see exactly within the business if there's been an improvement or not. So instantly I sign in to see the net profit if it's up and also if something's gone right. I can then go back into the product metric uh product metrics and just check through just to make sure you know everything's right and if there's been a drop in any of our products or for example, um, I might notice that the unit sales are down on one product and the star rating has come down.

So now I can say to the team right this week, concentrate on the star rating let's bring that up. So it's actually freed me up from the business. Um, the everyday runnings, which I've been trying to do for about three years. So it's actually been a, a great course for us. In the past I've actually don't, I've done, I think about without naming them all, I've done about $30,000 worth of training courses and they're all pretty much the same. And this one is very different to everything else we've done. Act... yeah I think you'll find people who've have been to events, you'll know that you go to an event or you do some training and they'll say you need to do a, um, put a system in place an inventory management system. So you get your pen and paper out, you're ready and they go, yeah, because this will stop you from having stock-outs and then they move onto the next subject. They don't actually break it down of how to create the system, which is what the Apex course has done. Actually broke down the systems really well. Daniel really cares about people, to a point where he would spend extra time talking to you on the side if need be. And there's a lot of weekly coaching calls and things like that going on. So I think from an accountability standpoint, from learning different things from building community, I've learned a lot. I made a great decision. I'm at a point where I'm looking very confident at exiting my brand in 9, 12 months, hoping to get to seven figures in the next 8 to 12 months, hopefully sooner.
